The second week of hard work has just finished. When the first week started it was very hard for me in terms of the physical demands. Every day I was coming home exhausted and tired with a very bad headache. It’s a fact that the more engaged you become, the easier it gets as your mind and body gets used to exertion and this is what happened with me. It’s just a second week of rehearsal period and I already feel that it’s getting easier and easier for me to dance all day long which is surprising and reassuring. Before I came to London I couldn’t dance more than 2 hours at a time because I was tired straightaway but now I can dance all day long every single day .
Being a dancer is a dream come true for me. I always notice when something is changing around me or within myself especially in terms of flexibility or technique and even thoughts. Just one year ago I didn’t pay attention to the dance itself at all. And I definitely can say that I have changed, improved and developed since last year and even since September. I have improved on technique and performance, as a choreographer and as a person.
This week Lucy changed the music and now we know that we have 3 different pieces of music, one of them being Tilly’s choreography and another two Lucy’s. We also started to understand the structure and concept of the choreography even more compared to the first week. What I really like about the creating and development process that you notice very interesting and unusual facts about yourself.
This week we were still doing small pieces but we started to put them together. We also started to learn Tilly’s piece which I really enjoyed. I also did a small solo which I’ve taken from our duet with Marie but interpreted it and adapted it to my own moves and concept. When we first started to learn Tilly’s choreography, I realised that I had never seen Tilly as a choreographer. But I really liked the way she talked to us and her style of movements. My solo is beautiful but I feel that I can do something even more spellbinding and challenging.
When we had a lesson of urban technique we didn’t do a lot because not everyone liked what Ed was doing in those pieces. The main dancer in the choreography was Sam and I felt that Sam didn’t really want to dance it but he still did very well. Marie and I were doing small fragments of contemporary dance and everyone else was doing some weird stuff.
On the last day of the week we did quite a big piece for about 7 people. This fragment was about a minute long and it was tiring but really lovely. We didn't have much time so we did just this piece but it was probably enough because next Monday no one remembered it except me.
