This evening I spent at the college additionally, doing choreography with Simona. We came at the college to try to finish our dance because we have only one week left and our normal hours at college is not enough to make it.
At that moment we had about 1 minute of choreography which is catastrophically a little so we started to create straight away but it didn't really go well so we watched a few dancers and choreographies which inspired us such as: Talia Favia and Anya Yedynak.
After our little research on different dances we were ready to create. So we made about 1 minute more in the choreography where we have sexy and slow bits but also very strong and even aggressive sections which in my opinion look amazing and also really interesting for the audience. 2 minutes of choreography we have is good but not good enough to show on stage. But we didn't have energy and couldn't think anymore so we went home and left it for tomorrow.
Also today we thought about our theme and about our characters story in the choreography more. In this choreo we start on the floor, sitting down together with a head down which means that we're a one person ( Red Riding Hood ). Then we stand up and do everything together but not as a same person already which means that Red Riding Hood has two different sides which fight and maybe quarrel but still complement each other because we have a section where I put my arm around Simon'a's neck like I want to kill her but she resist and after we both go down on the floor as nothing happened. It's also her really sexy and aggressive side which I really like because it's not just a a normal girl from this fairy tale. We show another Red Riding Hood and probably not from the best side, but it's our stimulus of the show "Twisted Fairy Tales".
My strengths are:
Remembering a repertoire
Hard working
Musicality
Contemporary technique
My weaknesses or the areas for improvements are:
Street dance
Dynamic
Pirouette turns in attitude
Lifting
Flexibility
My own style ( I don't feel my body as I should and sometimes I just don't understand my body )
How can I make an improvements to my own personal development?
I think all dancers include me have to practice, practice and practice because if you won't try to do something it will never be good or it will never be even succeed. For example pirouette turns in attitude will never happen straight away or street dance ( house or grooves ) I can't really feel as street dancers feel the music and their bodies so I have just one choice - to practice. And also ask questions from the one who knows more than you do in particular thing and never be ashamed to ask because it's always a pleasure to help for person who you ask and it's definitely will be better for you.
My own style and understanding your body in my opinion is a little bit more complected and harder to achieve. For 12 years I was dancing ballet at the same ballet studio and I was doing everything as my teacher taught me which is good but at some point you need try something else and as a dancer to find your own way of dancing otherwise it will be hard for you in the future and unfortunately I didn't have this idea of doing something differently or try to do particular moves differently so now when I have to show who I'm as a dancer and creative person I can hardly do it because I don't really know, but I try and I highly recommend to other dancers to learn the basics of the dance and than to explore and develop in your own style.
