This morning we had a lesson we had Emmeline for an hour instead of Lucy. We had a technique lesson where we did all the exercises which we learnt today and also learnt last week.
For example:
New phrase: Shifting around a box, chase, coupe turning, jumping stag into left leg knee onto the floor switch to the right leg and stand, step right, left, right, swing leg through, step onto it, brush over, turn jets. Repeat.
Simple leg swing on the right, step ball change forwards, soutenu with left leg. Repeat with the other leg.
I felt like our new routine is quite easy for me. I’m really confident in what I'm doing and it felt right and very nice while I was doing it.
Old phrases are still quite uncomfortable to do but today I felt more open and more confident doing them so I think I'm improved a little bit since last week.
In the afternoon we had one hour lesson with Emmeline again where we had our Collaborative Performance Project Rehearsal. In this lesson we developed our pair arm sequence and received a new task where we had to pull and push each other forward to make a line in front with other pairs.
I didn’t really enjoyed this task because it was quite hard to work with my partner. We had 2 gestures and then we got stuck and even Emmeline didn’t really help us because our opinion divided and we couldn't decide what to do next, but we have time to get used to and try to understand each other.
The most exciting and surprising news were that Emmeline and Lucy changed our music for the project. We had a lot of conversations between our group and even teachers that our song is not a very good choice and it’s annoying sometimes to listen to it whole day. So eventually Lucy and Emmeline decided to change it into “skrillex – bangarang”.
In my opinion it is a good decision to change the song. Firstly this song didn’t motivate us to dance, secondly we didn’t feel this music at all and it was hard to be enthusiastic and energetic and finally old music is just for a beautiful dance and not for a stage. New music is with a lot of hard beat and it makes choreography look very strong and interesting.
In Lucy’s class we continued our Collaborative Performance Project Rehearsal. Lucy wanted us to make a formation and move all together through the stage. When we began to learn a phrase I hit my colleague with my elbow straight under her eye. I was shocked and so ashamed that I couldn’t even dance. To be honest I don’t even know if that was my fault or her or even both of us was too close to each other. But next time I should definitely watch out who stand around me and be careful. This time I almost cried because I was so ashamed and felt so sorry for her but I stood up and continued dancing for the rest of the lesson.
